Criteria

The M. Naziruddin Award for Excellence will be awarded to students exhibiting a strong commitment to Islamic activism, involvement in their MSA or local equivalent Islamic organization, concern for the American Muslim community, and outstanding academic goals and achievements. We are looking for individuals who embody the qualities that M. Naziruddin Ali exhibited in his own life and work: dedication to Islamic activism in North America, and excellence in educational and career achievements as a means for advancement of the community at large.

In his honor, scholarships will be awarded to students who exhibit qualities of his exceptional legacy in the amounts of $2,500, $1,500, $1,000.

Application Materials

Applicants are asked to submit the following by June 1st, 2009:

• Application Form (download from website)
• Academic Transcripts from current and previous institutions of study
• Two Recommendation Letters to be sent directly to the scholarship committee

Timeline

• March 15th, 2009 - June 1st, 2009: Applications Accepted
• June 1st, 2009 - June 20th, 2009: Applications Reviewed
• June 23rd, 2009: Recipients Notified via E-mail
